I've been running for the Valdez Cross Country team my whole High School life. During my time in Jr. High, Mr.
Carlson had always wanted me to run with the team. However, I didn't like to run back then and I would always think
of an excuse to get out of it. Now that I've ran in High School and love the sport, I regret skipping out in Jr. High
to do cheerleading.
My Freshman and Sophomore year, I ran and got better. I didn't however recieve a Varisty Letter until my Junior
year when I scored a 19:23 at Su Valley. So far, that is my fastest time. All three years I've ran in the JV squad
but now with most of our Varsity graduated, I am now part of the Varsity Team.
The Valdez Cross Country Running Team as a general has for the pass few years been very successful. Winning the
State Champion Title for three years in a row and winning Runner-Up on the forth, Valdez will be expected to do well.
With many of our best runners gone, the JV Squad and the newcomers must pull together and make the team great!
Although practice starts on August 1st, my first practice (because of a family vacation) is the 15th.
The best thing is that I have been appointed Captain (along with Meghan Tanner) from the Mr. Wegner (our coach).
